SCFC Women Hire Head Coach Aaron Blanchard

January 17, 2024

Superior City FC are proud to announce that Aaron Blanchard has been hired as the SCFC Women's Head Coach for the 2024 season.

Blanchard joins as Superior City's second head coach after the departure of Sharon Lahti. Aaron brings a great amount of soccer experience to the club, with previous coaching experience at Gitchi Gummi SC, Cloquet High School and Northland College.

Blanchard grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, playing for Millard North High and North Iowa Community College before moving to the Twin Ports to play for UW-Superior. In his two years as a Yellowjacket, Aaron played in 32 games and was a part of the 2017 and 2018 UMAC Championship teams, playing in the national tournament both years.

"Aaron is a perfect fit for our organization, and we’re extremely excited to see where he can take our women’s squad. Aaron has played and coached at a high level, and he shares many of the same values as our club, including a drive to help develop our local women’s players. We have had a large increase in interest for the upcoming season, and I think we’re going to be very competitive in a difficult Midwest-West conference." - SCFC President Kaden Bergman

Aaron is in his second year as the Women’s Head Coach at Northland College, located in Ashland, WI.

"I see this as a great opportunity to work with some high-level athletes and I’m excited to compete at a very strong level. The club is doing a fantastic job of providing a platform that focuses on players from the Twin Ports, and it’s a great opportunity to challenge myself and continue to grow in my coaching experience." - SCFC Women's Head Coach Aaron Blanchard

Superior City FC Women's will compete in the UPSL Premier Midwest-West Division for the 2024 season. The club will use local talent to compete against some of the top pre-professional clubs from across Minnesota, including Tonka-Fusion Elite, MN Aurora 2 and Northern Tide FC. Home games will be played at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior, WI.
