GAME PREVIEW

Superior City FC started the season off strong, shutting our league-favorites Vlora FC at home last weekend. Avery Sutton and Emilia McGiffert starred in the match, creating opportunities all over the pitch, with Sutton picking up a goal and an assist. Expect another strong showing from Superior, with the return of a few college girls boosting the squad's roster for the upcoming match. Tonka-Fusion FC have not played this season, but with an extremely strong youth program bolstering them, expect tough competition. The club, which is home to the West Metro's top players, will have plenty of Division 1 talent looking to kick off their first UPSL season with a win at home.

Saturday, May 20th | Wescott Field (Austin, MN) | 7:00 PM CT

Tickets $10 at the gate | Livestream TBD | 67 degrees and sunny

GAME PREVIEW

Superior City will be riding a wave of emotions from Wednesday's match against FC Minneapolis, where they picked up a 6-1 win to remain flawless this season. The Navy didn't skip a beat, even with UW-Superior star Harry Ambler's injury causing him to miss at least this week's games, with CSS midfielder Arseno Hamilton stepping in and scoring an opening goal last week. Former CSS forward Mally Lumsden continues to score, and if he's hot, this club will be tough to beat. Austin Villa have also had a great start to their season, and their only blemish thus far was a 5-2 road loss to Worthington this past Thursday. Austin are a very tough team to play on the road, and Superior will need to have fresh legs after the 4 hour ride to keep their record unblemished.

WHO ARE THEY?

Austin Villa were formed in 2022, ready to compete in the UPSL in their first year of play. The club is dedicated to giving Austin-area players the opportunity to play at a high level of soccer over the summer.

HOW DID THEY DO LAST YEAR?

Austin Villa FC competed in the UPSL Midwest-West Premier division during the 2022 season. The club finished 5th place last year with a 4-3-3 record, one spot from making the playoffs.

LOOKING FORWARD:

Superior City stay on the road and will face a tough St. Croix SC club, who so far have not lost a game, next Sunday, May 28th for a 5:00PM game. Austin Villa travels to Minneapolis City on May 25th.

HISTORY AGAINST AUSTIN VILLA FC:

This is the first meeting between Superior City FC and Austin Villa FC.

Superior Wolfpack FC (0-3-0) at Homeboyz FC (0-1-0) | WPASL League Game

Sunday, May 21st | Walker Park (St. Louis Park, MN) | 6:00 PM CT

Free Admission | Livestream Unlikely | 75 degrees and partly cloudy

GAME PREVIEW

A young Wolfpack squad is continuing to find their identity, finally putting some goals in the net against a tough Union Eau Claire squad last weekend. Fawaz Ajao looked strong at the wing this past game, and goal scorer Vincent Trok will miss this next game, requiring scoring from elsewhere for the upcoming match. Dakota Wesleyan's Riley Brennan looked strong in the net, and he may need to step up to keep the squad in a position until they get into the swing of things. Homeboyz has been a strong preseason game for the league's Eau Claire teams over the years, and they'll look to begin their inaugural WPASL season strong. Word is, they're always tough to play when they're on their own turf.

WHO ARE THEY?

Homeboyz FC were founded in 2019 and have competed in a high-level Mexican league in the cities since their beginning. The club has played WPASL opponents in the past, beating Bateaux FC once out of five attempts, and losing to Union Eau Claire the last two years. The club is managed by former Bateaux player Dukeh Ramsey.

HOW DID THEY DO LAST YEAR?

Homeboyz won the Twin Cities Mexican League last season, with a record of 11-3-0.

LOOKING FORWARD:

Superior Wolfpack FC will return home for their first ever home game in Superior as they take on Poskin Jets FC on Friday, May 26th. The kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM at either Priest Field or "The Swamp" in Superior, WI.
