Wolfpack pick up two lopsided league wins


GAME SUMMARY:

Hayward Wolfpack FC came away with two one-sided wins to get back on the winning track this past weekend. The Pack opened the weekend with a 7-0 win over Poskin Jets at home. Isaiah Heyworth opened the scoring in the 41st minute, walking in a feed from Finigan Huffington. After the half, the floodgates opened. Huffington scored in the 49th minute, unassisted. Mally Lumsden then scored two goals in the 52nd and 61st minutes with assists from Jordan Finneran and Huffington. Finneran then scored in the 70th minute, with an assist to Heyworth. Huffington added a brace in the 80th minute, unassisted. Lumsden got his hat trick in the 82nd minute off of a Ken Pryde feed to secure the dominating victory. Goalkeeper Dru Senich earned a 5 save shutout in net and the Wolfpack outshot the Jets 27-5.


The Pack then traveled to Sparta, WI to take on league bottom-dwellers Spartan FC. Mally Lumsden earned a hat trick in the first half, scoring in the 13th, 20th and 24th minutes with assists going to Ken Pryde and Jordan Finneran (x2). Cole Gewerth opened the second half with a bang, scoring one minute into the half with an assist from Cameron Ross. Lumsden then scored four more goals, in the 48th, 50th, 58th and 59th minute to score an all-time Wolfpack record of 7 goals in a game. Assists on Lumsden's goals went to Finneran (x2) and Siji Gonzalez (x2) and Spartan scored their lone goal in the 50th minute. Finigan Huffington then scored in the 85th minute, unassisted. King Strum notched a goal in the 89th minute with Nils Eckstrom on the assist. The Pack closed out the 11-1 win with Finneran scoring in the 90th minute, unassisted. Hayward outshot Sparta 27-5 and Riley Brennan earned his first win in net with 4 saves.


The Wolfpack currently hold a 11-3-0 overall record, and 6-3-0 record in WPASL league play. Head Coach TJ Stilwell stepped down prior to the weekend, and Assistant Coach Cole Bergman will fill in the rest of the season as Interim Head Coach.
