Rock City shutout the Wolfpack in preseason friendly

GAME SUMMARY: Superior traveled to St. Joseph on a windy Sunday to complete their preseason friendly schedule with a match against Rock City FC. The first 20 minutes were the strongest for the Wolfpack, with the squad possessing the ball well through the midfield. Kaden Bergman had the best chance of the half for the Pack when he headed a strong cross from Yabkal Demelash, only for the keeper to get a touch and push it off the top of the bar. Rock City broke through in the 23rd minute when a strong individual effort from their striker nutmegged the Centerback and found the back of the net. Play got a little fiesty with some pushing and shoving between both squads stopping play for a time, but no cards were given. Rock City pushed for a second goal, unsuccessfully, and the Pack went into the half down by one. The second frame saw some positives for the Wolfpack, but the squad was worn down by a much bigger Rock City squad. The home squad found a second goal in the 62nd minute on a nicely tucked shot from the side of the box, and the Wolfpack's Vince Trok nailed the crossbar in the 70th minute but the team had no other strong chances in the half. Rock City finished the scoring in the 81st minute on another laser shot that found the bottom of the corner and Superior went home empty-handed for the second straight week. RCFC outshot the Wolfpack 9-4. "It was another game where we competed, and there are a lot of positives to be taken from the game. Our team was mismatched physically all over the field, but we battled well and looked good for stretches. We need to get that first goal and things will start rolling for the boys. Rock City are always great hosts with a fantastic facility, and we're feeling good about a couple weeks of training before we head to Eau Claire on May 14th to open league play." - SWFC Head Coach Cole Bergman
