Superior City FC are proud to announce that Thomas Bush has been hired as the SCFC Men's Assistant Coach, and Cole Bergman has been hired as the SCFC Goalkeeper Coach.
Bush joins as Superior City's first assistant coach after serving as the Superior High School Boys Soccer head coach from 2006-2012, in addition to running The Bridge, a local DASL club, from 2006-2017. Bush is currently the assistant boys coach at Superior High School, taking on the role in 2022.
Bush grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, and went on to play NAIA soccer as a two-year captain at York College from 1999-2002. He moved to Minnesota after graduation, playing for MASL Division 1 Scorpions FC for three years, before moving up to the Twin Ports.
"I am thrilled to see the beginning of a soccer club in Superior. I have enjoyed playing, coaching and having my kids in the soccer community here in Superior for the last 17 years. I’m looking forward to joining Superior City FC and can’t wait to see the impact it has on the development of the game we love in the community we love." - SCFC Assistant Coach Thomas Bush
Bergman joins both Superior City FC's men's and women's squads as the club's first goalkeeper coach, after taking on a head coach position for the Wolfpack halfway through last season, a role which he will resume for the upcoming year. Bergman also has coaching experience as an assistant coach for Hayward High School's boys and girls teams over the past two years.
Bergman grew up in Hayward, WI and played one year of NCAA Division III soccer at UW-Superior as a goalkeeper. Bergman was also a member of Hayward Wolfpack FC from 2018-2021, being named the WPASL Most Valuable Goalkeeper in 2021.
"I'm excited to continue my involvement with the club, we've made some pretty big steps in increasing player development over the past couple of years and are excited for the move to Superior. This will be my first role where I'm able to work with goalkeepers specifically, and I'm excited to help this year's group. I'll also be the head coach of the Wolfpack, and we're still looking for that elusive Primary Cup in the WPASL." - SCFC Goalkeeper Coach Cole Bergman
Superior City FC Men's will compete in the UPSL Premier Midwest-West Division for the 2023 season. The club will use local talent to compete against some of the top pre-professional clubs from across Minnesota. Home games will be played at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior, WI.
